Dental Veneers
Dental Veneers – What You Need to Know
Dental veneers can completely transform the look of your smile. With just two visits to our office, you can achieve dramatic, natural-looking results that enhance both your appearance and your confidence. Veneers are thin shells—typically made of porcelain or composite resin—that are custom-designed to fit over the front surface of your teeth.
To begin the process, we encourage patients to bring in photos of smiles they admire—including pictures of themselves from their teen or early adult years. A mock-up of your new smile can be created either using composite resin chairside or through a lab-fabricated model. This gives you and your North York Cosmetic Dentist a chance to preview the result and make any desired adjustments before the final veneers are placed.

Why Choose Veneers?
Veneers offer a quick, effective solution for achieving a brighter, more symmetrical smile. They’re often used for cosmetic enhancement when teeth are chipped, stained, misaligned, unevenly shaped, or spaced too far apart. Veneers provide a natural look and feel, helping you look your best and feel confident in every setting.
Important Things to Know About Veneers
Veneers can be made from porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers are more durable and better mimic the light-reflecting qualities of natural teeth. They are also stain-resistant, making them ideal for long-term wear. Composite resin veneers, while more affordable, tend to stain more easily and may not offer the same level of natural translucency.
To prepare your teeth for veneers, a small amount of enamel must be removed to allow the veneers to fit properly. After the first visit, you’ll leave with temporary veneers. At your follow-up appointment (usually one week later), your cosmetic dentist will try in your final veneers for approval before permanently bonding them in place. You’ll have a chance to evaluate their fit, colour, and shape to ensure you’re completely satisfied with your new smile.
It’s important to note that veneers do not respond to teeth whitening. If you’re considering whitening, it should be done before veneer treatment begins. Ask your North York Cosmetic Dentist if you’re a candidate for whitening prior to your smile makeover.
